Last Saturday, I jumped in the car and headed up to Portsmouth, NH to meet Emily and Kerry. Emily had found me online a while ago, searching for an engagement photographer, and although we’d chatted over email I hadn’t yet met them in person. Well, it was a joy. This is one of the sweetest, friendliest and cutest couples I’ve ever met, and I was delighted to be spending a couple of hours with them, exploring Portsmouth.
My plan this year was to make my teaser posts a little more concise … but as you’ll see below, that plan went out the window as soon as I started editing the photos. Kerry and Emily are naturals in front of the camera, and the spots we found together were perfect. And … it’s been almost three months since I’ve posted any engagement pictures. So I hope you’ll sit back and grab a glass of something and enjoy the ride.
A fun photo to start – I’ve graduated from silhouettes against dramatic skies to silhouettes in dramatic puddles. 🙂
We met in a cute little coffee shop on Market Square, Breaking New Grounds. Emily and Kerry chatted while I played paparazzo:
I’m into shooting through and around things right now (hence that last photo above). Next stop was a little alleyway off the Square:
The next sets of photos are probably my favorites from the session. I was balanced precariously on a very icy, very slippery fire escape while I was taking these shots:
And some color images from the same spot …
These guys are so CUTE!
I love the icicles everywhere. A couple more – from above, then below:
They both have really infectious laughs. And generous, warm smiles.
We left the town center and headed over to Strawbery Banke, a beautiful historic area of Portsmouth. Gorgeous buildings (and lots of snow) everywhere you look!
I fell in love with the light – and the ice covered plants – in this spot:
One last photo to end with. Thank you so much to Kerry and Emily for a very fun afternoon. I’m excited to work with you again in the future as you start your family together … and of course if you fancy having a Boston wedding photographer document your Bahamas wedding next spring, you might just be able to twist my arm! 😉

Kate! Wow wow wow, girl. I love these.
Thank you all for the comments! Facebook appears to have eaten some for now – hopefully they’ll be regurgitated at a later date 🙂
