I’ve just spent a week in Vegas at the mega photographest that is WPPI. It was exhilarating and utterly exhausting. Just before I left, the lovely Monique visited me in Jamaica Plain for some snowy/sunny bridal portraits – my second practice session following the workshop in Denver. Monique and Adam got married back in September 2009 and we share mutual friends, Kelly Alice and Chris. One of the things we were taught during the workshop was how to pose people by mirroring rather than using explicit spoken instructions; working with Monique gave me a unique opportunity to use this method as she has been deaf since a young age (she is also a phenomenal lip-reader so I wasn’t reliant solely on the mirror-posing).
We were blessed with gorgeous sunshine that lovely, warm afternoon at Olmsted Park and Leverett Pond in JP. Thank you, Monique, for trusting me. I hope you enjoy the results!
I am in love with those ducks! And I love Monique’s bright blue eyes …
I was trying to get out of my open shade/backlit comfort zone with some of these shots – including the last image above …
Monique’s got killer shoes and a huge smile. Love it!
(Seriously killer shoes …)
I’d love to know what you think – have you got any favorites? And … if you’re a newly engaged couple wanting some kick ass wedding and engagement photos, view my portfolio here; if you’re more interested in kids and pets, click here; follow me on Facebook here … or contact me here!
A whole new level of awesome, as if it weren’t awesome enough as it was.
It was SO much fun working with you! I seriously had the best time, and you made me feel like the most beautiful person in the world that day. It was so easy working with you.
I have to say it’s hard choosing a favorite-but my top three are:
one of the fur headwear, one of me laughing and the one with the ducks!
I really hope I get to work with you again in the future!
As always your pictures ROCK!
Thank you all so much for the comments. Monique, such a pleasure working with you 🙂
monique is incredibly beautiful (inside and out), and she has the best smile!!!
i love the way the photos came out, kate. one of my favs is where monique is standing (in her fantastic heels!), facing the pond, and her dress is flowing. lovely shot!!
xo
I agree on a “whole new level of awesome” comment! These rock and I wouldn’t be able to choose as they are just gorgeous! But since I’m partial to shoes and yep those shoes were KILLER I’ll go with that one because while it shows great shoes it shoes a beautiful & happy woman!
That last photo is absolutely stunning. Beautiful work.
