Almost two weeks ago, I traveled up to the beautiful White Mountains of New Hampshire, for an epic wedding adventure, courtesy of Jon and Katie. I absolutely love photographing at the Omni Mount Washington Resort in Bretton Woods, and it’s just such a treat feeling like you’re a part of nature, surrounded by the most spectacular landscape, and breathing in all that lovely mountain air.
I got up early on the morning of the wedding, and before taking a shower I popped out onto my balcony at the inn where I was staying and grabbed these first shots. The resort looks so pretty in the morning mist …
Katie and the girls had gotten up pretty early too. I arrived as Katie was about to start makeup. Here she is, mostly ready:
Some very sparkly details:
I love this photo of Katie having her hair styled by Alexandra Sorrentino – she was SO excited!
Jon had to call on one of Katie’s uncles for some bow-tie-tying help:
Love this moment as Katie was getting dressed …
We held Katie + Jon’s first look on the South Veranda. The light was perfect, the views spectacular … and I love this moment!
Sometimes my favorite “detail” shots are candids. The girls were waiting around for portraits to start when I captured this:
These two photos of Katie and her father really sum up the day for me – emotional tears, followed by raucous laughter. Perfect!
The ceremony was held on the magnificent Jewel Terrace – not too shabby, right?
There were so many great moments throughout this thoughtful, sweet, and funny ceremony.
Two of my favorite photos above and below – I just adore how expressive these guys are!
Some details from the Grand ballroom, set up for the reception:
This is, I’m pretty sure, my favorite first dance photo ever! All the elements came together here …
The sweet parent dances:
Dinner consisted of many courses, and there was plenty of time to capture some in-between moments, including Jon and Katie checking out her new wedding band:
A few photos from the toasts:
The rest of the evening was a crazy party. The band, The Nerds, was fantastic (and so fun to watch), and these guys can party. Katie and Jon might have requested some good blackmail material of their friends – but I’ll let them share those photos with you all. 😉 Just a couple of teasers here:
And one final favorite to end with. Thank you all so much for an amazing day, and I hope you’ve enjoyed the teasers. The rest will be ready in the next week or so – I can’t wait to share them with you!
Great post! What a wonderful location. The back drop for the ceremony was nothing short of amazing. Great work as always.
Top job Kate! Brings back some nice memories for me too… we stayed here a couple of years ago!
Kate these are so incredible! Thank you so much for sharing!! Can’t wait to see the rest!
How fabulous! It was a spectacular site for a wedding, everyone looked great, I adore the brides gown!!! Too much to say here other than breathtaking…
Absolutely beautiful pictures. Everyone looked gorgeous and handsome. I’m so sorry I couldn’t be there, but it looks like you had a great time. I’m so very
happy for you both
Kate these are awesome, thank you. Can’t wait to see the rest.
Jon and Kate-what great pictures of what looked to be a day you will always treasure. Jon, what can I say. From a wide eyed infant to now a man who can take on the world with your beautiful bride. Kudos to your parents for raising such a fine young man. “Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.” Ecclesiastes 4:12. Keep God as the third strand. Marriage won’t always be easy, but with God the worst times are ALWAYS easier to get through. God Bless, Wendy Worley
very very classy!!!
Kate McElwee! These are incredible!! It’s evident that these guys love to party, and you did an awesome job capturing the energy and excitement for sure!
