OK, so I know it’s been ages since I last posted (well, a week and a bit feels like ages to me) but Andrea promised me that they’d be spending their honeymoon doing what they should be doing (relaxing) and not checking the computer every fifteen minutes to see photos. So I figured I should take the time to have something super awesome ready for when they finally return to Seattle.
Andy and Andrea got married last Saturday, May 2nd, at a beautiful Catholic church on Capitol Hill, Holy Names Academy. The day brought dark clouds and bucket loads of rain, but we refused to let our spirits be dampened. A rained-off rooftop first look became an ultra-romantic meeting under the arches at Court in the Square … photos around Pioneer Square turned into a mad dash around the public library, with reds, yellows and blues replacing the dull gray sky … and the church became a hive of pre-ceremony activity.
The ceremony was gorgeous – family and friends personalized each reading and song – and there was so much warmth and love in the church that afternoon. I love how many children Andrea and Andy invited; it was definitely a family affair. At the end of the ceremony we walked out into sunshine – yeah! So we took a little detour through Pioneer Square and finally got those gorgeous old cobblestones into some photos. Oh, and red brick alley too …
The reception flew by for me, and there are too many highlights to mention them all … but my favorite things from the day included Andrea’s mom and dad crying as she put on her veil … Converse sneakers for Andy and the boys … Japanese students hijacking the wedding party photos (and stealing Andrea’s bouquet – that was not so cool!) … mini burgers for dinner and a pizza station for the kids … three perfect first dances … the most amazing dessert table filled with pies and cupcakes and all kinds of good stuff … a basket of thongs for dancing … a fab live band … aunties getting crazy in the photobooth … it was a fun, fun time. Huge thanks to Andrea and Andy for including me in their beautiful celebration – I hope you enjoy your teasers below, and your highlights slideshow here.
