This absolutely lovely couple got married on one of the wettest Saturdays of this already very wet spring – and what an incredible attitude they had about it! It just goes to show that no matter the weather, your wedding day will be truly magical, as long as you let it.
I started my coverage at the Lyman Estate in Waltham, photographing Jill’s details in the bridal suite. She arrived for some dressing photos – and hugs with the girls – then we met up with Joe and got him set up for the first look.
The couple had wanted to have their first look in the greenhouse at the Lyman Estate, but the rain was absolutely bucketing down … so we decided to drive them over so that it could still happen as planned. I absolutely loved that Jill had her father walk her to meet Joe, as he wasn’t walking her down the aisle. I’m such a sucker for a sweet father-daughter moment!
The first look and vows were so perfect, and I think these are some of my very favorite photos of the day. I also love the quick snaps of them leaving the greenhouse under a clear umbrella (a rainy wedding day must-have as it lets the light through and doesn’t cause a color cast on your face).
For their group photos, we utilized the lovely balconies surrounding the Lyman Estate – I really like how you can see the raindrops in the background of some of the photos.
The ceremony was held in the ballroom (the plan all along as Jill loves the architecture of the Lyman Estate). The officiant, George Balekji, was fantastic – he had the warmth and humor of a friend but is actually a professional officiant and has a background in TV. Jill’s brother also gave a reading (and a hug).
During cocktail hour we took some more group photos in the ballroom, and guests enjoyed the various rooms and hallways of the mansion. I got some great photos of the kids on the stairs!
The reception was held in a Sperry tent and was a beautiful celebration of spring with colorful flowers and romantic lanterns. They had a number of wonderful toasts, including a real tear-jerker by Joe’s dad, followed by dinner and dancing.
We had a wonderful break in the weather mid way through dinner: the rain finally stopped and we were greeted by a stunning rainbow peeking over the tops of the trees!
Thank you to Jill & Joe for trusting me to document this beautiful day, and a shout-out to the amazing Meagan at Core Events who ran the show, as well as videographer Irma at Earth & Sun Co, florist Petal & Wren, and the Silver Arrow Band.
