I’m off to Kansas City for a few days of photography awesomeness with the Foundation Conference, and while I wanted to show you a lot more of Jay and Erica’s sweet late-fall New England wedding, I also couldn’t bear the thought of them waiting any longer for some teasers … so I figured it might be fun to pull a few of my absolute favorites from the day and show them sooner rather than later. I’d love to know what you think of this as an alternative to the multiple posts per wedding. If it’s a hit, this may be the new format for my 2011 weddings!
I met with Erica and her bridesmaids at Colby Hill Inn in Henniker, NH for some getting ready and detail photos. Erica is super crafty, and so many of the day’s details were DIY – I love this!
I love these black and white photos of Erica getting ready:
Their “wedding theme” was British Country set in New England. Jay’s suit (from Men’s Wearhouse, can you believe it?!) was perfect. Also, how adorable are these first look photos?
It was absolutely freezing outside, and the rain that came down during our portrait session was icy – but these guys were troupers. I loved the colors and rustic backgrounds at Colby Hill Inn.
We grabbed a few quick couples portraits around the Inn, in the rain. You’d never know how bitter out it was, looking at these images, would you?
The ceremony was held in the large downstairs room at Pat’s Peak. The glowing fireplace added to the wonderful ambiance:
After some family formals, I headed upstairs to the main room. Loving this rustic decor, and the homemade jars of black cherry sauce (the favors):
Jay and Erica formally opened the reception with their first dance … these may be my very favorite photos from the entire day – just look at how those guys are looking at each other as they dance. Wonderful stuff!
I love it when the toasts are held next to the couple – it makes for the best photos!
The room was so pretty with the lanterns and fairy lights. It adds so much atmosphere to the reception, and makes the photos extra sparkly. 🙂
Thank you all for a lovely day, and for being so cheerful despite the cold, wind and rain! I hope you’ve enjoyed this sneak peek – and to any regular readers: let me know what you think of this format in the comments!
Kate,
These are wonderful. Thank you for capturing these special moments, priceless expressions, and rustic essence. It’s everything that I had hoped for.
Erica
I like the whole shebang since you get the feel for the wedding at once 🙂
Gorgeous details and I love the shots of their first look! LOVE the bouquet + shoe shot on the wagon wheel!!!
gorgeous! the shot of them at the fireplace is just lovely! love the rustic setting & all her DIY details! I actually like both ways…so I will be of no help in that department!
Beautiful work, Kate! I like seeing it all.
Beautiful Wedding
Great shots. Enjoy your conference!
Thank you all for the lovely comments! Erica, it was wonderful working with you and Jay. 🙂
Hi Kate,
I actually love this format of seeing all of the photos at once. I think it’s a great way to showcase your incredible ability to capture the event from start to finish, and all the details in between, in one concise post. 🙂 Hope you’re well – xoxo
