Georgetown on a Sunday: Kris & Chris’ Engagement Session

Mar 31, 2008 | Engagements

It’s been another busy weekend here. I had Erica and Rodney’s wedding on Saturday (teasers coming in a few days!) and then yesterday afternoon I met up with Kris and Chris for their engagement session. Kris and Chris are madly in love … with Georgetown! I’d never been to the area before, but after just five minutes of looking around I was smitten too. It’s a pretty small area, but it’s packed full of cool bars and pubs, an upscale coffee shop, a very cool looking record store and tons of red bricks, dirty allies, graffiti and other photo-friendly stuff. Heaven!

I met up with Kris and Chris at one of their favorite hang outs, Jules Maes Saloon. They drank a couple of beers and played some pinball while I ogled the decor. I particularly loved the wall with the old piano, wall clock and stuffed animals. We then headed out for a wander around the streets, and took some shots in a gorgeous old doorway at the old Georgetown Brewhouse, by a graffiti-covered wall and underneath the bright yellow scooter.

Next, we headed over to the famous hat ‘n’ boots in nearby Oxbow Park. I couldn’t resist snapping a fisheye pic of their boots on the boots. Yes, I’m silly … The boots turned out to be a pretty good prop though – I love the shots of them snuggling up between the two boots, and I used one of the boots as a platform so I could finally get a bit of a height advantage!

We finished off our session back at the pub, this time at the 9lb Hammer. After a delicious pint of Manny’s I took a final couple of portraits under the ‘Sweet Adoline’ painting. Thanks Kris and Chris for being great sports, and for buying me a pint of my favorite beer in the world!
