BPL Late Fall Wedding: Emily & Knute

Nov 1, 2025 | BPL Weddings, Weddings

I’ve felt really lucky with the weather this fall – despite several weeks of downpours, my fall weddings have had absolutely wonderful weather, and the foliage has been gorgeous too! Emily & Knute had another of these picture perfect days for their beautiful Boston Public Library Wedding last weekend.

I started my day in Emily’s suite, getting some pretty detail photos and the final touches of the getting ready time. There were some really sweet moments between Emily and her mom, and Emily and her bridesmaids. I also met their videographers from StopGoLove – amazingly it was our first wedding together, and I highly recommend them! We headed to Knute’s suite for a little while and there were some great moments shared by Knute and his siblings. I loved that his sister Lauren was there, helping her brothers get dressed.

Knute and Emily opted for a first look at the back of Trinity in Copley Place so that we could then travel together easily for their portraits. It’s such a great spot, and it’s one of the few places in downtown Boston that feels pretty private. My favorite photos from this might actually be of them walking back through downtown, hand in hand, waving at friends on the street. Then, we jumped into a limo and headed over to the Boston Public Garden for some couples portraits with the absolutely amazing foliage that was on show!

One of the things Emily mentioned to me when they first reached out last year, was that they wanted their photos to show their love and joy on their wedding day. They made this very easy for me! They laugh together a lot, and are so beautifully attuned to each other. We gave them minimal prompts during their portrait time, just letting their sweet, kind, fun and playful personalities shine through. Also, Knute has a side hustle in construction and to my utter delight he requested to have a photo with some heavy construction equipment at the end of Comm Ave – so fun!

We met back up with their lovely families and wedding party at the Fairmont, then took some large group photos on the steps of the BPL until we were allowed in at 5.30pm. It was then a race to capture the last light with some photos on the Juliet balcony and in the courtyard. Then, a few more family groupings and some final couples’ photos in some favorite spots.

The ceremony was held in the Courtyard, with lovely lighting by Jim at CJC Event Lighting. There was a short reading, and some lovely words by their officiant and dear friend, John.

Immediately following the ceremony, Emily asked if I could photograph the signing of the marriage license. It was sort of a non-event as you only need the officiant to sign in Massachusetts, however I absolutely LOVED being there for this intimate moment with some of their closest people – officiant John, Knute’s brother, and Emily’s brother’s long term girlfriend. I also got my favorite photo of the day during this time: Knute snuggling into Emily’s shoulder as she was laughing. It is so sweet, and to me it really shows both their joy and their love.

I’ll let the photos tell the story of the rest of the evening – it was a great night. Thank you Emily & Knute for trusting me to document this beautiful day for you – I hope you enjoy these highlights!
