Riverside Farm VT Wedding: Lisa & Karr

Sep 19, 2025 | Weddings

Is it wrong to share that you have a very favorite venue? Well, if you’ve ever attended a wedding at Riverside Farm in Vermont, you’ll understand why this incredible place is my favorite of all the beautiful VT wedding venues. The gorgeous setting, the charming barns and outbuildings, the lovely, kind staff … and let’s not forget the incredible gourmet food! As you can imagine, I was thrilled to be back, documenting the wedding of Lisa and Karr.

My weekend started on Friday afternoon with some portraits of Karr and Lisa and their sweet pup, Olive. We hit up a few favorite spots around the venue including the covered bridge, the vast ceremony field, and the adirondack chairs (I made sure to include the New York sign – where Lisa and Karr currently live). We also took a bunch of photos with the hydrangeas as they have a special meaning to this couple – Karr gave Lisa hydrangeas when they started dating. I love including little personal touches like this during portraits.

On Saturday, my coverage started with Karr and the guys in the groom’s cabin. I teased Karr later in the day for being so serious during the getting ready, but I think there were maybe some wedding day nerves. Lisa’s dad and Karr share this really awesome goofy humor which I very much enjoyed documenting. 🙂

Lisa had the beautiful red barn for her getting ready space and she, the moms, and her best friends were in high spirits. I loved that the girls were mostly phones-down, laughing and goofing around – it makes my job so much more fun when everyone is just enjoying the moment.

Karr and Lisa had their first look just outside the red barn, and I loved that they brought each other something to read: Lisa wrote Karr a letter, and Karr had started a journal about their wedding which was such a thoughtful idea. Then as the groomsmen joined us, Lisa and her dad had the best surprise first look and I am so happy I was there to document it!

After some speedy group photos (I was playing catch-up after the getting ready ran a little late) it was time for the ceremony, held of course at the ceremony tree in the center of the property. The weather was glorious, there was a wonderful toast/reading, and of course some cute-funny moments with the adorable ring bearer.

After the ceremony was one of my very favorite things about this wedding: Lisa and Karr had a second line parade to cocktail hour, led by their amazing band. It was so cool! I absolutely love when couples think outside the box to make a really unique and fun experience for their guests. They also extended cocktail hour which was wonderful. I had tons of time to get plenty of guest candids, a few more couples portraits, the details in the barn … I highly recommend doing this if you have a venue where it makes sense!

The reception was held inside the brown barn, and it was simply – but beautifully – decorated. The couple went straight into their first dance, then there were wonderful emotional toasts by Karr’s mom, and Lisa’s parents. Then it was time for an incredible dinner, followed by parent dances and dancing.

Thank you Lisa and Karr for an amazing weekend – I hope you enjoy these photos as much as I enjoyed documenting it for you!
