My first Glen Magna Farms wedding! I had been dying to photograph at this venue for years and years, so I was thrilled when the lovely Erin Davies reached out to see if I was available for her sweet couple, Olivia & Danny. I was so excited for this one, from the moment they booked me!
These two got ready in Salem, just down the street from the church, and it was great having everything within an easy walk. They found the perfect spot for their first look – the Derby House Garden in Salem – with beautiful flowers, lots of shade, and so many lovely, old buildings surrounding it. I was in heaven!
They also said their personal vows at the first look which is one of my favorite new “traditions”. It means you can really be in the moment and let the emotion take over, knowing that you’re not standing in front of a hundred family and friends. It’s also perfect for Catholic ceremonies where personal vows aren’t always allowed.
The ceremony was short and sweet, with a few readings but no mass. Immediately after the ceremony, the couple took a private moment in the garden at the side of the church, then we all hopped on a bus over to Glen Magna.
Gosh, I just adore this venue. It has everything … the gardens are gorgeous, the house itself is beautiful and is the perfect backdrop for cocktail hour; the tent is perfectly situated with easy access to the formal garden (for photos and/or the ceremony) and the cocktail lawn … it really is such a great venue.
I wanted to take the group photos in the shade, so we headed to the tree lined alley at the front of the property for those. Olivia and Danny had really prioritized portrait time which was fantastic, and we had fun with some creative wedding party photos, as well as capturing plenty of couples portraits.
After a relaxing cocktail hour on the lawn (complete with raw bar), guests headed into the tent for dinner. The tent was STUNNING. I think this might have been my first time working with Floristika Studio, and wow, I’m a fan! There was a fantastic hanging arrangement, and gorgeous hydrangeas everywhere … so pretty.
Through dinner there were three toasts, and many a shed tear (my favorite thing to capture during the toasts!) Then there were a couple of speedy parent dances, followed by a super fun dance party with the band Hot Mess absolutely crushing it, as usual!
Thank you Olivia & Danny for a perfect day; I hope you enjoy these favorites!
