Tess & Chris’ Winter Boston Public Library Wedding

Feb 19, 2024 | Weddings, Winter Weddings

Weddings at the Boston Public Library can be utterly gorgeous even on a cool February day. It was a treat getting to work with some fantastic vendors on this one, including the lovely Irma of Earth & Sun Co. (video), Althea Floral Design, band Clique by Wilson Stevens (all new vendors for me, and highly recommended!) as well as my all-time favorites The Catered Affair (planning and catering) and the wonderful Greg at SociaLight whose lighting was absolutely phenomenal. It was a treat being able to put away my lights for the ceremony and reception – I only used them for a few portraits at the Library in fact.

This was a short and sweet one for me, starting with some detail photos at the end of Tess’ getting ready, and ending just as dancing got started.

I spent a little time taking detail photos of the invitation suite and rings, then headed over to Chris’ suite for a couple photos of him with his brother and Tess’ dad. Irma set him up in the window for a couple of portraits and what beautiful light we had for those!

Back to Tess’ room where she got dressed with her mom, then her best friends came in for a reveal. I love that Tess gave gifts to her parents – really thoughtful (and funny) ones based on their reactions. 🙂

We set up Chris and Tess’ first look on the steps of the Boston Public Library – it’s such a perfect spot when it’s not too busy (so … winter!) and I loved the portraits we captured here. Then it was back to the Fairmont Copley for some family photos in Peacock Alley.

Over at the Library again, we photographed on the stairs (of course) and up in Bates. Tess and Chris chose to read their personal vows to each other in private, in bates Hall – what a magical moment! I am really loving this new trend of vows before the ceremony, it always makes for such great photos. We ended photo time with some group photos on the grand staircase, and a final shot in the courtyard with Tess in her majestic coat!

The ceremony was quick but lovely, performed by Tess’ best friend. The lighting by SociaLight was so perfect. Then, cocktail hour took place in the Map Room and Tea Room, and the reception was held in the Guastavino Room. I love that this couple mixed things up by having their parents toast from the balcony, and forgoing a sit-down dinner for a buffet setup. It left much more space for dancing and visiting.

Thank you Tess & Chris & families, I hope you enjoy these teasers, and the highlights slideshow below!
