Wychmere Beach Club Wedding on Cape Cod: M&M

Jun 2, 2014 | Weddings

I’d been anxiously anticipating this beautiful Wychmere Beach Club wedding for months, and I’m so happy to finally share some photos from one of my favorite venues in all of New England.

When you wake up to rain on your wedding day, you can do one of two things: get bummed out and hope that it’s true that rain means good luck for your marriage, or hang a rosary in the window to ward off the rain. This smart bride did the latter, and my first wedding of the official summer season blossomed into the most beautifully sunny, warm day.

I started my day at sweet Wychmere Cottage, on site but separate from the Beach Club, where Miss M and her family and best friends were getting ready. It’s a cute, rustic cottage, with a true Cape Cod beachy theme, and I loved exploring the nooks and crannies. I also adored watching M’s family interact; they are beyond close, and they treated each other like best friends as much as relatives.

My fabulous second shooter Earl Christie hung out with the guys at their gorgeous rental house, just up the road in Harwich Port.  Huge thanks to Earl for getting a number of killer images at this wedding, including all of the photos of Mr M and his guys getting ready.

The ceremony was held at St. Joan of Arc church in Orleans, and what a delightful service it was.  The priest knows Miss M’s family very well and the sermon felt more like a toast from a good friend.  After the ceremony, and some family photos at a tiny park overlooking the Wychmere Beach Club wedding venue, M, M and I explored a couple of fun spots along the water for their couples portraits.  They’d sensibly chosen to have a gap between the ceremony and cocktail hour so that they could spend the whole of cocktail hour celebrating with friends and family – if you’re not doing a first look this is definitely the way to go!

Wychmere Beach Club weddings benefit from a great outdoor space for ceremonies and cocktail hour, and a huge, long room that overlooks Harwich Port harbor.  The floor to ceiling windows on three sides mean that the light is incredible, and it’s easily one of my favorite reception venues on the Cape.

The reception was filled with heartfelt and very entertaining toasts, and some awesome dance floor action thanks to the fabulous band, Legit.  Love these guys!  And the night ended with a beach bonfire complete with s’mores.  Thank you M and M for trusting me to document your beautiful and emotional wedding day, and I hope you enjoyed these Wychmere Beach Club wedding photos!
