DECORDOVA SCULPTURE PARK WEDDING: LARA + JESSIE PART TWO

Apr 28, 2011 | Weddings

Once Lara and Jessie were dressed, and portraits taken (you can see that post here), we headed over to their venue, deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum.  Jessie and Lara’s plans for a rooftop ceremony were thwarted by the rainstorm … but deCordova is gorgeous inside and out, and the backup spot was cool – whitewashed walls and cool art.  I love that they walked each other down the aisle – don’t they look happy?

Jessie’s Aunt Kate officiated.  She also tore it up on the dance floor later in the evening, and it is so funny looking back at these somewhat serious photos, knowing what I do now.  😉

Cocktail hour was a treat in this space – both for the guests and for my camera.

The rain finally stopped, leaving the most wonderful fog hanging in the trees … so I grabbed the brides and we took a few quick portraits outside (after Jessie had bustled Lara’s dress, of course):

Back inside for the reception proper.  The main room looked so cool with their bright centerpieces playing off the plant exhibit on the walls.

This is one of my very favorite first dance photos.  Loving the expressions on these two …

After dinner (fish tacos!) it was time for some sweet and funny toasts:

And on to my favorite photos of the night – the crazy on the dance floor!  Ashley and I had so much fun that we stayed for a long time extra.  I was actually crying with laughter at one point.  Good times.  🙂

There was an impromptu father-daughter dance part way through … I am so happy I caught this.

Thank you all so much for a wonderful day and night.  I adore you both, and hope that you enjoy your teasers as much as I enjoyed your wedding.  🙂  One last photo – my very favorite of the night – to finish off:

  1. Part Two, yay!! I am again overwhelmed by your amazing talent – I can’t believe how crisp and bright the dance floor pictures are, considering how dark it was! As always, thank you a hundred times over for being our photographer – you are absolutely incredible.

  3. Kate, not only are you a brilliant photographer, but you’re also one of the most amazing people I have ever met. You captured the happiness of our wedding day so perfectly. Huge thanks to you and your assistant Ashley for going above and beyond the entire day and for staying late into the night to capture amazing candid shots during the reception. We can’t thank you enough.
