Pioneer Park Pavillion Wedding: Melissa + AJ

Sep 30, 2009 | Weddings

My last Washington wedding of the summer was down south in Puyallup with the lovely and vibrant Melissa and AJ.  I started off the day with Melissa, her bridesmaids and mom at the salon, where despite some crazy fluorescent lights and an overhead skylight we got some very cute shots of the girls.  Melissa was pretty much ready when we arrived half an hour early (!) but I was relieved that she had a couple of touch ups to do.  Next stop was the church, which had a really nice getting ready room for the girls.  While the ladies dressed, the guys played air hockey upstairs – it was fun times for pictures for sure.

AJ and Melissa wanted to have their first look on the pier in Tacoma where AJ proposed, so we headed down there with the guys, snapped some pics (yay corn dogs!) and waited for Melissa’s grand entrance.  I love how emotional they both were, it was really cute.  In the meantime, the groomsmen had managed to cajole two police officers into letting us have some fun with their squad car – awesome!  I love how excited Melissa is to be wearing the handcuffs, ha!  You’ll have to watch the slideshow for the full sequence …

After lots of fun bridal party portraits around Tacoma, and some family fomals in the park, we headed back to the church for a very emotional ceremony … I saw several Kleenex being passed during the vows.  The reception was over in Puyallup at Pioneer Park Pavillion, a great space for large crowds (they had 420 or so guests!)  Some highlights included the amazing groom’s cake (go trucks!), the beautifully emotional mother-daughter dance, and a bouquet toss that was so x-rated I can’t even show you a teaser on the blog!  There’s a lady out there who is thanking her lucky stars right now.  🙂  Thank you Melissa and AJ for a really fun wedding, and I hope you enjoy your teasers below and the highlights slideshow (click here).  Congrats on a fabulous day!
