Downtown Seattle and Palace Ballroom Wedding: Emily + Ede

Apr 9, 2009 | Weddings

On Saturday, I spent a wonderful afternoon and evening with Emily, Ede and their family and friends in a sun-washed and very chirpy Seattle.  I met up with the girls at the Hyatt downtown for some super speedy getting ready shots, then popped in to see the guys as they were making the finishing touches to their outfits.  After a quick first look, we piled into a sexy black limo for photos around Pioneer Square.  How could we not, with that gorgeous weather to enjoy?  I love the shots of them walking and talking around the square, and that fire station is such a cool backdrop for couples pics.

At 4:30 we bundled back into the limo (or rather, limo after limo after limo – that’s not a small bridal party!) and headed over to a brand new venue for me, Tom Douglas’ Palace Ballroom.  It’s an amazing building, all red brick and beautiful furnishings, and the decor was picture perfect, thanks in large part to the fabulous True Colors boys, Jesse and Travis.

After some family formals it was straight into a very emotional ceremony with lots of family involvement.  My favorite moment was when Emily’s new step-daughter brought everyone to tears with her welcome to the family reading.  I also enjoyed the music provided by Ede senior and family.

The reception was raucus and hugely entertaining – and of course the food was fabulous.  We had a ton of fun with the photobooth (shown in clolor, for a change), and perhaps the highlight of the night for me were the very amusing bouquet and garter tosses … you’ll have to watch the slideshow to see what I’m talking about!  Thank you all for a wonderful day and I hope you enjoy the teasers photos and slideshow (it will take a few moments to load).

  1. Oh Kate, these are fantastic! (Not that I expect ANY less from you!) Heh.

Is this connected to the Palace Kitchen at all? (That’s our favorite restaurant!) How beautiful. Was the ceremony AND reception there? These shots are just fabulous. I bet they are thrilled with them.

I love the shoe shot (fave!) but I also love the sixth one of him smiling, sitting on the couch. So relaxed looking! That b/w of her toward the end is great, too. And that LAST shot? Oh my. A serious winner!
