Last weekend, we took a last-minute mini vacation with the doggies and some of our best buddies: Mike and Beth, proud parents of my doggy-nephew Bernie, Ed, and of course myself, my hubby Josh and our baby Labrador Porter. We headed down to gorgeous Pacific Beach on the Washington coast, along with two trunkloads of food, sweets, beer and whisky. Oh, and lots and lots of kites.
Of course, it rained most of the time (it’s Washington … in March) but it was an awesome weekend anyway. Cabin time was spent eating and drinking, playing board games and reading trashy mags (thanks Beth!) When the rain occasionally cleared we all piled onto the beach, and the doggies chased, the boys and Beth flew kites, and I took pics. Here are a few favorites. Oh yes, the night time pic? Josh brought along the kite lights that I bought him several years ago – I had some fun, and some frustrations, with long exposure, manual focus, pitch black, no moon night shots. It was mostly fun 🙂

Love these Kate!! The beach is such a great place when it rains, so much to see, and you shot it all! LOVE the dog images! What a mess, I bet they had a blast. Glad the sunset came out for you, perfect!

Pacific beach is my absolute favorite place to go to unwind and relax. I love it. My favorite spot in Washington. I’m glad you guys liked it and had a good time 🙂 great photos, as usual!
That’s one impressive kite contraption! Looks like a lot of fun. I hope it warms up and stops raining soon! Nashvegas is beautiful right now!

Zach, that kite is nuts – Josh was almost carried away at one point (I was trying to work out if I should hold on to his legs or take photos of it). It’s meant for kite surfing and such things.
I can’t wait to go back down there, maybe in nicer weather. We had such a great weekend.
Ohh, I love Pacific Beach too – so peaceful and gorgeous and quiet, even in the summer. Your pictures make me want to get in the car right now and go! I think it’s my fave place on the WA coast too. These photos are awesome!! Always post your vacation pics – we can live vicariously through them! 🙂
