A Sunny Sorrento Wedding: Stephanie + Stephen

Jan 30, 2009 | Weddings

Stephanie and Stephen’s wedding last Saturday was super fun. Stephanie is Swiss, and they decided to do a very Seattle version of the traditional Swiss wedding day. My day started as usual, covering the couple getting ready in their separate rooms, and around 11:30 we held their first look just down the street in front of the grand John Alden building. We then whizzed off to Seattle U for some speedy couples portraits. We totally lucked out with the rising steam as we were walking past the back of St Ignatius chapel – and with the weather, too (yay, sunshine!)

Back at the hotel, things started to diverge from the typical American wedding. The ceremony was limited to the couple’s closest family and friends, and with just thirty guests they were able to hold it in the lovely penthouse suite. After the short ceremony, we were joined by another seventy or so guests for an afternoon reception. Fiona was in charge of the photobooth while I printed some favorite shots on-site for the guest book and took a few candids of guests eating, drinking and chatting.

At around 3:30, the afternoon guests left and we headed out for a “special surprise activity” with the ceremony guests … Riding the Ducks! The Swiss like to keep their wedding guests entertained, and the Duck tour was perfect. Captain Cody Pendent (yes, really) was lots of fun and by the end of the tour he had everyone dancing to YMCA. Awesome! We got back to the hotel just as it was getting dark and after a few last photos before dinner my day was over. Huge thanks to Steve and Stephanie for including me in such a fun and unusual wedding day.
