Spirits of Washington: Jenerra + Ryan

Jul 22, 2008 | Weddings

On Saturday, I headed down to Renton for Jenerra and Ryan’s gorgeous wedding at The Spirit of Washington Event Center in Renton.  I hadn’t met Ryan before the big day (he actually proposed on new year’s eve, several months after Jen booked me!) so it was fun getting to know him over the course of the day.

I started the day at their home in north Renton where Jen, her mom and bridesmaids were getting ready.

I thought this pear would make a fun prop for some ring shots:

Jen looked beautiful – and check out those killer lashes!

Next stop was the venue for some getting ready photos with the guys.

I also sneaked in a few photos of the venue before we left for the park …

Jen and Ryan had found a perfect spot at Coulon Park for their first look, a secluded clearing at the top of a small hill.

The wedding party soon joined us for some fun group shots:

Such sweet guys, and such cute girls!

Ryan and his sisters:

After the portraits, I had tons of time to get detail and room overview shots.  Jen did an amazing job with the decor – I just love the way she mixed up bright greens and blues with the classic black and white.  And the theme was carried through to each section of the room – the guest book table, the candy buffet, the ceremony …  It was perfect.

Even the candy was all blue and green – so pretty!

The light was crazy in there by mid afternoon – huge bands of bright light coming through the high windows:

The guestbook followed the color theme too – now that’s some impressive attention to detail!

There was plenty of time for candids as guests started arriving for the ceremony.

The toasts were highly entertaining – the best man even did an interpretive dance for Ryan and Jen!

After dinner and the main reception events were over, we took advantage of the gorgeous light for some more portraits in the courtyard and around the venue.

I love this mosaic wall we found:

Towards the end of the evening, I set up the photobooth.  It was insanely popular!

There was a lot of jumping and dancing and flashing!

Huge congratulations to Ryan and Jen on a really fun wedding, and thank you for introducing me to your awesome family and friends.

  2. Unbelievable shoot, Kate! Every one is fantastic. The dress in the tree rocks. Looks like some fun lighting conditions for the ceremony! Regardless, you made it look easy. Good work!

I think I’m going to book my hotel for WPPI 2009 soon!

  3. Kate, these pictures are fabulous! We are so excited to see the rest. Ryan was so impressed with you during the wedding, and now that he’s seen the photos, he can’t stop talking about how great you are!

The photobooth was INCREDIBLE! Your detail shots are perfect. It was a lot of hard work to put it all together myself, so having good pictures of that is so great.

I love the pictures by the mosaic and Ryan loves the picture of us all walking down the hill.

Thank you Kate, for being so amazing!

To the above poster: The dresses were purchased at various stores (Macy, Nordstroms and Windsor:online). They are all different colors but similar styles.
