UW and Kerry Park: Alycia & Jacob’s Engagement Session

Jun 15, 2008 | Engagements

Last Sunday felt like the first sunny day in a very long time … Luckily, I had an engagement session scheduled with Alycia and Jacob, so I got to take full advantage of the amazing blue skies and those beautiful little fluffy clouds.

We spent most of the afternoon on the UW campus, as Alycia was keen for us to incorporate some grand architecture into our photos. I have a lot of favorite spots on campus, but we went exploring and found a few new places too. I’m pretty sure I will never tire of the campus – although we were very sad to find out that engagement photos are no longer allowed in Suzzallo Library.

I love back light! It took me a few minutes to find the perfect spot (and I’m sure Jacob and Alycia thought I was crazy – I was just stumbling around looking this way and that) but I’m so glad I searched; it’s such a pretty glow!

I had to use my special patented ninja skills to get some shots in Red Square without a ton of other folks in the picture, but it’s a new favorite campus spot, especially when the sun is out.

And what is it about couples making out against a wall of some kind? Maybe it’s just me …

After a while, we decided to head up to Kerry Park, another old favorite. I’ve taken a lot of photos up there, engagement and wedding, but this is one of the best. You just can’t beat that sky …

After a few last shots in the long grass, we literally walked into Jessica & West’s Love Story video that was being filmed. It was surreal! I was chatting away as I do, and I can only imagine the look on my face when I realized I was being filmed! I hope I didn’t totally ruin the video … Huge thanks to Alycia and Jacob for a very fun afternoon and I hope you like your teasers.

  2. Kate, these are FANTASTIC! Every last one of them. I might wager to say this is the best engagement session I’ve ever seen you do. I am VERY impressed. I was looking through each photo and as I scrolled down, I just thought each photo I saw was my favorite until I saw the next one! Well done.
