It was a huge honor to be one of the official photographers at this year’s Inspire Photo Retreat just outside of Boston in Sturbridge, MA. The above slideshow is a selection of 90 or so of my favorite images from the past three days. It was a big challenge in terms of lighting and composition as the hotel is pretty dark, with very busy backgrounds and some pretty terrible lighting in the conference rooms! But I love a good challenge and went on a mission to find a way to inject the clean and graphic style I love to shoot into the images. It was fun putting the Nikon Df through its paces and the majority of the photos were shot with available light only at ISOs of 3200 and 6400. I also had fun playing with a grid for the first time. For the karaoke photos I used a single off-camera speedlight with a Honl grid borrowed from fellow official photographer Doug Levy (my MagMod grids arrived the day I got back home, of course!) as well as a pop of fill from my on-camera light.
Thank you Mark and the Inspire team for trusting me to document the conference; I’m really excited to return next year to the new location in Portland, Maine!
Kate!!!! I am so excited for you. Looks like you brought a little Texas to Massachusetts. You do such great work. And it is so wonderful to see so many friends! Thank you love!
David!! We missed you so much. I tried to bring my Foundation heart, and ended up glued to my 85. Ha! But it was a treat being a part of this wonderful thing. You better be there next year xoxo
