Favorite Wedding Vendors

VIDEO & FILM

The following videographers/film makers are delightful to work with. There are many different styles; my recommendation is to watch a few of their wedding films and go with your gut! Note that the very best book up just as quickly as photographers.

Meg Simone
Meg and her partner Dave take a really unique approach to their storytelling, weaving in interviews with family and friends. The resulting films are incredibly personal, and often filled with funny anecdotes and tons of emotion. This Lucent Award winning film is one of my very favorites. I absolutely LOVE working with them!

ARA Films
Chris shoots solo and with minimal intrusion on your wedding day, making him an absolute dream to work with for photographers, and especially documentary photographers like myself. He leaves the big gear home and uses a small kit to make beautiful films that tell the true story of your day.

LMV Productions
Matt is an absolute gem, and works in a documentary style that is a great fit with my photography. He is one of my top recommendations for wedding video, if you are looking for real moments, completely unstaged, and zero intrusion into your day.

HAIR & MAKEUP

It’s surprisingly hard finding hair and makeup artists who run on time, as well as being great at what they do and delightful to spend time with. So when I find them I try to work with them as often as possible! Hair and makeup time really sets the tone for the day – at least for the bride and her girls – and hair and makeup running late is usually the biggest timeline killer. The ladies below are gems, and book up fast!

Dani Wagener (Makeup)
Dani is well known as being Boston’s best of the best for beauty. She works quietly and quickly and uses airbrush makeup to create flawless faces. A true gem in the makeup world!

Stacey Kuehn (Hair)
Stacey won Best of Boston in 2016, and for good reason; her work is stunning, and she’s a wonderful, claiming presence to have with you on your wedding day. We worked two weddings together recently and both brides looked spectacular!

Erik Howard (Hair)
Erik is an absolute sweetheart. He’s also co-owner of Will Charles Salon on Newbury Street and offers bridal hair both on location (my recommendation) and at his beautiful salon. His work is stunning, and he and Dani work wonderfully side-by-side.

Hilary Warner (Makeup)
Hilary is incredibly sweet and works quietly to create makeup magic!

LIGHTING

Lighting is a funny thing. Good light adds wonderful ambience to your reception, but done badly and it can actually cause issues for your photos and video. Many companies light the things in the room, but not the people, which looks great in person but in photos it looks weird to have an unlit couple sitting in front of a bright-as-a-galaxy pin-lit centerpiece. Overly dramatic lighting, which is far too common, is especially difficult to work with, and I always advise a more subtle approach that highlights the beauty of the room, with soft flood lighting on indoor ceremonies and soft spot lights, or soft washes for toasts. I also recommend keeping textured or patterned lighting on your dance floor for post-dinner dancing and not having it during the main events, especially the toasts.

Event Illuminations
This company is one of very very few who understand the notion of lighting people and not just things. They use beautiful quality light that won’t cause flickering in your video, and they work with the photo and video team to ensure great results both in person and in the final image. CJC Event Lighting & Production
Jim is a really wonderful person to work with, and like Event Illuminations above, CJC understands the importance of creating beautiful light that works for capturing fantastic photos as well as looking great. I highly recommend Jim and his team!

FLORISTS

There are so many talented florists around New England that it was hard picking just a few favorites.

David DiCiccio
I was fortunate to work with David DiCiccio on a recent wedding at the Museum of Fine Arts, and recommend him without hesitation, not just for floral design but also for his full service event design and planning which includes lighting, and coordination of other design services. Truly an exceptional person, David will guide you through the process with kindness, grace, and a dash of humor. He is a treat!

Orly Khon
Orly’s work is spectacular; she is hugely talented and such a wonderful person to work with. We finally worked together at the end of 2016, on two of my biggest weddings of the year.

Beach Plum Floral
Jillian is such a sweetheart, and creates such gorgeous floral arrangements and bouquets. She is based on the Cape, and is my go-to florist for Cape and southern MA weddings. A really lovely and talented lady. Her Insta stories are fantastic, too!

Table & Tulip
Based in the South End, Table & Tulip are crazy talented, and are previous Best of Boston winners. We have worked together at a number of Boston Public Library weddings and they have a particular knack for working in gorgeous greenery at their weddings.

Foret
The ladies at Foret are wickedly talented (they won Best of Boston in 2015) and very sweet. Their work has a very natural, organic feel – think Style Me Pretty in the woods.

Bands / DJs

Most of my couples work with bands, and often have their band in place before they meet with me, but if you’re looking for recommendations please ask! DJs usually get booked later however, and I highly recommend booking someone whose personality you love, and who comes recommended by a friend or by one of your vendors. The right DJ really makes the night!

DJ T-Rex
Thomas is a wonderful person, and we had the pleasure of working together at a beautiful, elegant, and VERY fun wedding at the Boston Public Library. He was such a pleasure to work with and he kept the dance floor packed all night!
