A couple of months ago, I photographed Erica and Rodney’s engagement session, and after hanging out with them for a couple of hours I was really excited for their wedding. It finally happened on Saturday, and although we weren’t blessed with the same gorgeous weather, it was a beautiful day in every other way.
I started off the day by surprising them at Habitude in Ballard where the girls were getting their hair and makeup done. After a few shots, I headed over to the University Presbyterian Church in the U District, and met up with Aleah and Nick of Fine Line Management and Events. It was great having some time to photograph the many details – the gorgeous stationery and flowers, and Aleah’s beautiful aisle decorations among other things.
A little later than planned, the girls arrived at the church for some final getting ready shots, and the changing room quickly became the fun hangout spot! I love this time – there are so many emotions to capture. We were hoping to head out to a nearby courtyard for Erica and Rodney’s first look, but time was against us so we set up in the church’s own little courtyard instead. Then, after some couple and group photos at the alter, I hid away near the back of the church for the ceremony, a full forty minutes, hurray!
The reception was held at one of Seattle’s most beautiful indoor venues, Court in the Square near Pioneer Square. It’s such an amazing building, and Nick and Aleah did a fantastic job with the decor. There were candles, rose petals, swathes of blue satin … they looked great against the red brick backdrop of the Court.
The reception was a whirlwind of food, drinks, dancing and photoboothing! My assistant Kelly and I set up the photobooth in a corner of the venue and had a ton of fun taking cute, silly and sometimes downright goofy photos. It was a really big hit with the families as well as all of their friends.
At the end of the evening, Erica and Rodney made a grand exit through a wall of sparklers – I think this last photo is my very favorite. Congratulations again to Rodney and Erica!
Wow – she had some gorgeous details to her wedding! I adore the candles lining the aisle.
GORGEOUS shots as always Magnificent Kate 😉
LOVE these, Kate! You did such a great job! I love the photobooth shots and really love the shot of the rose petals on the aisle!
Kate,
You captured every important detail of Erica and Rodney’s day – from the details of the floating candles to the amazing cake and their smiling faces. Nick and I had fun working with you and Kelly and the photos turned out so great. Looking forward to Melanie and Sidney’s wedding with you!
