I spent the last week in Denver, CO with the man himself, Jerry Ghionis. For any non-photographers reading this, Jerry is one of the world’s very best wedding photographers, and he is also an incredibly gifted teacher. The workshop was a huge investment, and I was adamant that I would not come away with lots of great ideas that never get realized. So, this afternoon, I had a friend of a friend, Anna, come by and play model for me. Anna was married in her home country of Ireland over the summer, and considers herself to be “not photogenic”. I love a challenge!
I limited myself to the confines of my home, and an hour of photography. Oh, and all natural light. I wanted to keep it simple, and focus on light and posing. Here’s what we got:
Mirror images – probably my absolute favorite of the afternoon:
The bright red of the dining room wall made a great background, even in black and white:
One last image from the guest room:
I’d love to hear your thoughts; do these more posed shots sit comfortably with the rest of my work? Would you like to see more?
She looks very photogenic to me!! Absolutely stunning and I really do love that ‘mirror’ image also! looking forward to see what other tricks you learned!
Thank you ladies 🙂
Yes, he IS the man and yes, that was a huge investment. He’s amazing and your time must have been incredible! Like you, I love the natural light/journalistic style, but I do see value in well posed photos. Really, really nice job!
