Taj Boston Wedding Photos Sneak Peek: Julia & Koroush

Jun 22, 2016 | Sneak Peek

Taj Boston wedding photos are my favorite – this rooftop venue lends itself to both elegance and a laid-back party atmosphere, thanks to the Taj’s wonderful quality of service and the soaring views over downtown Boston, especially during sunset.

Julia and Koroush chose a Taj Boston wedding in large part due to her parents marrying there, many years prior. This was my fourth wedding at this gorgeous venue, and my third time photographing on the rooftop. My day started with Julia, her mom, and friends, as they had hair and makeup services in one of the third floor rooms at the Taj. I was delighted to work with Caitlin Murphy again; it had been a while since our last wedding together, and she does beautiful work, offering both hair and makeup services to her brides. Although Julia opted not to have a traditional wedding party, I loved that she included her best friends in the getting ready, and both she and Koroush took group photos with their friends, something I strongly recommend.

The ceremony was held at Old South Church’s Gordon Chapel. It’s possibly the trickiest church in Boston in terms of photography (crazy rules, and crazy dark) BUT I absolutely love the spot where you exit the church, and my favorite series of photos from the day came from the exit, complete with biodegradable confetti flowers!

We took most of the portraits pre-ceremony, but grabbed a few more after, and one of my favorites is from right outside the church while we were waiting for the car to pick us up; I’m a sucker for a beautiful arch. When we returned to the Taj, cocktail hour was in full swing and I snuck through to get some photos of the room setup. There will be photos of the gorgeous florals by Stapleton Floral Design in the full post, and you’ll be able to see the gorgeous draping that Julia picked out for the side wall. The space looked phenomenal!

The evening had a nice mix of traditional and non-traditional elements; there was a Persian knife dance to honor Koroush’s heritage, and a football and beach towel throw. Julia’s mom Mary gave a beautiful and funny toast with photos of the bride and groom throughout the years – and as I said to Julia as I was leaving, I think Mary enjoyed the day every bit as much as Julia did! She was beaming throughout.

I’ll be posting many more Taj Boston wedding photos for Julia & Koroush soon in a full post, but wanted to share these sneak peeks for them to enjoy on their honeymoon!
