I absolutely love photographing in new places, so when I got the opportunity to fly down to Washington, DC for Nellie and Chris’ engagement session I was thrilled! It was my very first time visiting the city, and although my timing could have been a little better (I arrived just days after the shutdown began) it was a gloriously warm weekend with gorgeous light, and I couldn’t have been happier.
It was my first time meeting Chris and Nellie, and they graciously offered to pick me up from my hotel. We started off at their great apartment just over the river in Arlington, for some photos with their sweet pup, Boston. As a fellow black lab owner, I was incredibly impressed with Boston’s behavior … she puts my two year old pup to shame! She’s absolutely gorgeous too, and it was a great way to ease into the photos.
We spent the rest of the session touring around some of Nellie and Chris’ favorite spots in DC, including Union Station, and Eastern Market, where they’re planning to buy a place. I was a HUGE fan of this neighborhood; the houses are gorgeous, and it’s got a great buzz … and a ton of really good lookin’ food places, a must in my book!
Thank you both so much for your generosity over the weekend – Nellie your text message the next day was so kind! – and for the awesome tour of DC. I can’t wait to return with my hubby one of these days!
