A couple of weeks ago, I had the immense pleasure of photographing my first Monument Provincetown wedding, with two of the sweetest, most charming, most welcoming grooms you could hope to meet. It was an incredible weekend, starting with a beautiful rehearsal dinner at The Red Inn on Friday night, followed by one of the most gorgeous and emotionally charged weddings I’ve photographed. A ton of New England’s top wedding vendors came together to create this spectacular event, and although there’s a vendor list at the bottom, I have to give a special shout-out here to Bernadette at 14 Stories for pulling it all together.
I started Saturday’s coverage by photographing Chad and Anthony’s awesome stationery suite, designed by their good friend Tony Rizzuto:
The guys got ready together, helping each other into their custom tailored blue suits. Anthony’s choice of blue plaid was bold, but oh so awesome!
An emotional moment for Anthony – the first of many that day, in fact – as their friends see them dressed and ready to go.
It had been pouring with rain all morning, and I was a little nervous about the weather for the outdoor ceremony and tented reception … and yet just as the guys finished up getting ready, the rain dried up, never to be seen again. So we headed over to the breakwater at the southwest tip of Provincetown for a few portraits. These guys had quite the crowd watching them by the end of our short session!
You guys are too cute! And so crazy stylish!
I had the lovely and talented Jackie Ricciardi second shooting for me, and she captured a number of the images below, including this one, from the top of the Monument, of guests arriving. Thank you Jackie!
Anthony, Chad, and some of their closest friends during the relaxed group photos:

So many happy, excited faces gathered for the ceremony!
The ceremony was absolutely beautiful. The decor was simple – allowing guests to soak up the amazing view of Provincetown below and the ocean beyond – and the readings were heartfelt. There were many touching moments like this one:
And then there were laugh-out-loud funny moments like this:
And at the end there was huge applause and cheering, while Anthony gave the best expression I think I’ve ever seen – love this!
During cocktail hour, I had Jackie focus on capturing the guests enjoying drinks and snacks on the west lawn, while I went to town photographing the ridiculously awesome details. My jaw dropped when I first saw the tent all set up for the reception … it was beyond perfection!
I often recommend florists New Leaf Flores to my couples, describing them as more architectural and unique than other florists … and they did me so proud here. I am in love with the thistles, the cabbages … not what you’d expect for wedding flowers, and all the more perfect for just that reason!
This wedding also wins the prize for best dressed guests at a wedding anywhere, ever. Love this shot of Jackie’s from cocktail hour!
And a couple of final photos of the beyond-gorgeous decor at this Monument Provincetown wedding:
Chad and Anthony opened the reception with their sweet first dance. I recently had another gay couple ask me if it’s normal for gay weddings to have a first dance, and I exclaimed, “yes, and please!” It’s one of my favorite moments of a wedding (and one of the few parts of the day that I still get nervous photographing), and I love having the opportunity to capture genuine moments and emotion amid the blur of the reception. Plus, why wouldn’t you want photos like these?
A fun ring shot using the awesome drinks napkins designed by Tony:
The rest of the evening was spent toasting, and eating, and partying like crazy. Here’s hoping these guests won’t mind me posting a few fun photos from the dance floor …
Thank you Anthony and Chad so much for an incredible weekend, and for so graciously welcoming me into your home, and into your circle of friends. I hope you’ve enjoyed these teaser photos, and I can’t wait to share your full set with you in the next week or two!
The talented vendors involved in this spectacular Monument Provincetown Wedding included: 14 Stories, New Leaf Flores, celebrant Gerald Fierst, Ormonde Productions, New England Country Rentals, Max Ultimate Food, Dessert Works, Fancy That, DJ Addam Rae Wolff, and designer Anthony Rizzuto.
