At the end of 2023, I was thrilled to return to the Newbury Boston (for the third time this year!) for an absolutely lovely and very intimate winter wedding.
I started my day at a private members club on Commonwealth Avenue, where Morgan was getting ready along with her sisters and mom. The club prefers not to be mentioned by name online, but I would still love to give a shoutout to their wonderful staff for being so accommodating and providing us with so many great spaces in which to photograph.
After some detail photos and a few quick hair and makeup touchup shots, I headed upstairs with Morgan to one of the guest rooms where she got dressed with the help of one of her sisters. She was later joined by both moms, and there were some really sweet moments. I also took one of my very favorite photos of the day here: the black and white photo of Morgan checking her reflection in the antique mirror; I love that you can clearly see the patina of the mirror – it shows a little of the character of the club with its incredible antique furnishings and art. I was also in love with Morgan’s dress – the lace overlay was so beautiful and unique.
Once Morgan was ready, I met up with Schuyler and we got set up in one of the more intimate first floor reception rooms overlooking Comm Ave for his and Morgan’s first look. It was such a sweet moment! And I loved that there were a few tears. We had a little time before the sun set to take some portraits outside and were greeted with mild temperatures (for late December) and no rain, hurray! My favorites here are the ones of them strolling together on an almost empty Comm Ave … they are just such classic Boston wedding photos.
We headed back inside for family photos in the library – both families were just wonderful to work with – followed by a few more couples portraits throughout the club. Then we jumped into transport to Emmanuel Church’s Lindsey Chapel for the ceremony. Schuyler requested I leave my video lights up for the ceremony as it was so dark in the chapel and this meant great lighting for me, and a much better view for their guests (win-win!) I love when a request like this comes from the couple; I typically don’t add in additional lighting during the ceremony as I want to preserve the atmosphere that the couple has chosen, but it really was a huge help here.
Cocktail hour and the dinner reception took place at the Newbury Boston. Although the wedding was petite (just 45 guests) we had a stellar team of vendors: DJ Sheldon at C-Zone Entertainment, Marisa at The Newbury, Table & Tulip for the most beautiful florals, all headed up by Marissa Pedone (day of) and Erin Davies (overall) of the always fabulous Erin Davies Consultancy. It was a joy working with you all!
And finally, I have to mention one of my favorite moments of the day: pup Biggie joining us for a few photos during dinner! I adore the photo of him with Sky’s dad, definitely taking a sniff at the delicious dinner food. 🙂 Thank you Morgan & Schuyler for trusting me to document your beautiful, intimate wedding day, and I hope you enjoy these highlights!
