My first Harvard Club of Boston wedding as a solo photographer was such a wonderful experience from start to finish. Brittany & Ian opted for my solo coverage option, as they had just seventy or so guests. I truly love photographing solo when it makes sense for the wedding, as it means my attention is fully focused on telling the story of the day, and I am aware of everything that has been captured, and what still needs my attention.

My day started with some portraits of Brittany and her bridesmaids; we then had a quick first look with her dad on the magnificent staircase at the Harvard Club of Boston.

Ceremony at Emmanuel Church Boston – Traditional & Intimate

The ceremony was held at Emmanuel Church’s Lindsey Chapel in downtown Boston. I loved the incorporation of music – there were hymns! And an absolutely stunning rendition of Ave Maria. Everything about this wedding was carefully and thoughtfully planned to feel intimate and classic; Brittany really wanted it to feel like a wedding that past generations would recognize, and from her dress to the elegant floral designs to the music it felt almost like stepping back into another era. It was perfect.

Wedding Reception at the Harvard Club of Boston – Timeless & Elegant

Cocktail hour was held upstairs at the Harvard Club (such a wonderful space with its checkerboard floors) and the reception was in the ballroom. Highlights included their magnificent first dance, the band Winiker Music, and the wonderful surprise performance of ‘Danny Boy’ by one of Brittany’s father’s close friends (a public figure whom you may or may not recognize!) The florals by David DiCicco were so elegant, and it was all topped off by fantastic subtle lighting by Frost – many thanks for the soft washes that enabled me to photograph the reception events and toasts flash-free (it always makes for a better experience, and better photos, when the lighting is so thoughtfully designed).
