Jen and David’s Wychmere Beach Club wedding goes down in history for me as one of the most fun ever. While the girls were getting their hair and makeup done, the guys were drinking beer and making a mad dash into the frosty April ocean at the Wequassett Resort, and their reception was out of control awesome with one of my favorite dance parties of all time. There were so many great moments from the reception including David and Jen’s wonderful first dance (David has some serious moves!), the hora, and at the very end of the evening when Jen’s dad serenaded everyone. I had already packed up and was heading out to my car, but when I saw what was happening I quickly grabbed my camera and got a few photos. It was wonderful. Some of my favorite photos are above, or you can scroll all the way down to watch the slideshow. Thank you to my friend and colleague Masao Okano for second shooting for me and getting some of my favorite photos featured here!
How/why did you choose your wedding venue, Wychmere?
I grew up on the water and loved venues with an ocean view. We were also getting married in April and liked that Wychmere had a great view, but we could be inside. We also loved that we didn’t have do too much work.
Why did you choose Kate to be your wedding photographer?
We heard amazing things from our friends who had her as their photographer!
What were some of your favorite wedding day moments?
It sounds cheesy, but I really loved our first look. I was feeling nervous before then, but once we were together I just felt so happy and excited about the rest of the day. I also cried when I read the note David wrote to me. He is not really a big note kind of guy, so it was sweet to see what he had written to me. David choked up during our vows in front of everyone.
Things went wrong when David forgot the rings and the marriage certificate. It was pretty classic. Thankfully one of his friends saved the day right in time for the ceremony.
One of the other funny moments was when my mother was put up on a chair during the Hora. That was her first Jewish wedding and I don’t think she was expecting that!
We think we’ll remember the dance party. We didn’t stop dancing all night. It’s also so amazing to have all of the people that you love together in one room.
What were some of your favorite details?
My mother made candles with sea-glass that we have collected and sand from p-town. I also loved the details and flowers from Whim.
Did any of your vendors go above and beyond for you?
Our photographer!! Kate made us feel comfortable, kept us on track, was fun to be with, and took amazing photos. I also really loved our florist (Whim). I gave them a vague idea of what I wanted and they exceeded my expectations. My make-up artist Kerri Herlihy was amazing and fun to be with. Lastly, we loved our band, the Sugarbabies!
Anything else you’d like to share, or any tips for couples currently planning their wedding?
Don’t worry about the little details and just have fun!
What’s up next for you as a couple?
We are expecting our first baby in April-the due date is on our anniversary!
