Happy Monday! A week ago exactly, I was heading out to photograph a very special and intimate Cambridge City Hall and Hampshire House wedding. On, yes, a Monday! Lisa and EJ first contacted me a couple of months ago, asking if I was free on a mid August Monday to photograph their sweet City Hall ceremony, and a cocktail reception for friends and family at the lovely Hampshire House in Boston. Of course I jumped at the chance; intimate weddings are my very favorite, and I was excited to meet and get to know this sweet and excited bride, and her stand-up comedian groom!
I started my day at the Wyndham Hotel on Beacon Hill as the girls were finishing up getting ready. I loved Lisa’s details, including the gorgeous flowers by Nectar Floral Design and her sparkly Jimmy Choo shoes.
Lisa was excited to check out her finished look:
Lisa’s cousin, one of the bridesmaids, and her beautiful bouquet. If someone had told me beforehand that the flowers would be a mix of reds and pinks I would have thought it an odd color combination; in fact these flowers were absolute perfection – such a modern and beautiful take on red!
Lisa enjoying a quick glass of wine before heading out:
On the way down to the limo, the flower girl’s mom (EJ’s sister) asked her what she was most excited about; her response: “riding in a limo!” It sure looked like it! Love this:
We met up with EJ at Cambridge City Hall; I noticed he was nervously fingering the wedding rings:
The ceremony was perfectly intimate and quite emotional.
I love the emotions showing here:
Lisa’s cousin and EJ’s niece looking on towards the end of the short ceremony:
A favorite photo from right after the ceremony as EJ guides his new wife down the lovely staircase at Cambridge City hall:
Arriving at Hampshire House for their wedding reception:
We headed over to Boston Public garden for some portraits – love this one of Lisa, her sister and cousin:
And then we headed over to Beacon Hill for a little more privacy and some sweet couples’ portraits:
Back at Hampshire House, cocktail hour had started. The library looked gorgeous!
Lisa and EJ gave a welcome toast, then guests enjoyed cocktails and some wonderful food.
Some more of the pretty decor (I love Lisa and EJ’s framed invitation):
I mostly took candid photos of guests enjoying the reception, but I grabbed a few group photos too – love this one of all the cousins in EJ’s family:
And just as I was getting ready to leave, the amazing display of cupcakes by Kick-ass Cupcakes was set up so I had to grab a couple of photos. I’m still somewhat regretting not also grabbing an actual cupcake or two too – they looked so good. Thank you Lisa and EJ for trusting me to document your beautiful and intimate wedding celebration; I hope you enjoy these teaser photos!
Yay Kate! These are so pretty!!!
