A couple of Mondays ago, I met up with this super silly and totally up-for-it couple for a very unique engagement session. These two met during a woodworking class at the hobby shop at MIT, where they were struggling to get the chisel mortiser to cooperate. I loved that we were able to go back to the place they met for their engagement session, even if it was at the crack of dawn (OK, not quite – but 9am is pretty early in my book). 🙂
The hobby shop is a challenging space to use for photos, so I’m really excited about how the session turned out. We were working with mixed fluorescent and tungsten lighting, underground, with dust and wood chips everywhere. There were no clean, pretty backdrops, no fall foliage, no gorgeous natural light … so I brought in a speedlight, played up the 50s feel and we worked to create cute and silly scenarios with the various pieces of equipment and work spaces. Awesome! I’d love to know what you think about this session – so please leave me a comment! Guys, thank you for such a fun morning and I hope you like the teasers.

Love it!
I love it! What a quirky duo, love how comfortable they seem in their own skin. And of course you captured it beautifully as usual. Can’t wait to see you!
These are so freaking cute! The shot with the face shields cracks me up. Way to work that indoor lighting Kate!
Thank you ladies! Lanaya, the props there were too cool. 🙂

Oh man! What a fun session! I love personal things like this.
These are so cute and playful! I love the yellow background and the lighting in #7. Really nice work, Kate!
I really like your themed engagement sessions. A great spin on something that is so expected!
