On another gloomy May Sunday (seriously, what is up with the weather around here?!) I met with Kelsey and Charles for their engagement session. They’re getting married in just over a month, and it was great having a chance to reconnect and get to know them a little better before the big day.
We met up at Pike Place Market for some photos in nearby Post Alley. It’s a popular spot for a lot of my couples, but Charles performs improv at the Market Theater so he was particularly keen to get some photos at one of his favorite places in Seattle. Interesting fact here: the famous gum wall was started in the early 1990s by audiences waiting in line outside the theater.
Next up was a little tour of my favorite walls along 1st Avenue – yes, I really do have lots of favorite walls around the city, as crazy as that may sound! The blue wall in one of the parking lots along 1st is completely grungy, but I love the color, and the rust definitely adds something.
I love their giggles here! Kelsey was giggling non-stop all day, it was super cute! She claimed it was nerves, but I think it’s just that I’m incredibly funny. OK, maybe not. It was cute though! Our last stop at the market was further north on Post Alley, and then we headed off to the Sculpture Park. This has got to be one of my favorite gray day locations for photos – there’s so much color and fun texture to work with that it doesn’t even matter if it’s ugly out!
I love these last two of them relaxing. My favorite photos often come right at the end of a session – maybe it’s the relief sinking in, “yay, no more camera in my face!” Thanks so much to Kelsey and Charles for braving the gray and the rain, and see you soon for your wedding!
I really like the way you are getting your couples to be part of the Seattle landscape that we know from our visit last August. The opening shot of the Sculpture Park with Kelsey and Charles dwarfed by the sculpture and the landscape beyond is stunning, as is the b&w alley shot. Lovely close ups of the couple as well.
Aah, I love Seattle. I miss the area around the Market. Your pictures of Kelsey and Charles are really quite marvellous.
Hey Kate, awesome new blog! I’m diggin it!!! And as always, amazing job with your photos!!! Keep it up girl…
Thank you all! Dad, it was just done just for you. Not really, but I’m glad you like seeing the Seattle landscapes. Thanks Michael and Ryan, too. 🙂
