It was such a joy to photograph another State Room Boston wedding; this modern space always feels like the perfect fit for the clean aesthetic I have in my work. I was thrilled to this time be working with some terrific vendors including Mindy and team at AE Events, Mike and Lisa with Boston Wedding Films, Dani Wagener for makeup, Splash! band (Wilson Stevens bands are the BEST!), and Mimosa for florals.

I started my day at the Ames Hotel, just a block or so up the street from the State Room, where both guys and girls were getting ready. I loved being able to spend a little time with Chris and the guys. I always prefer to photograph the guys myself, rather than bringing in my second photographer for this portion of the day, as it means I get to know everyone a little bit, which helps later in the day when it’s time for wedding party photos!

We had grand plans for a first look at Fan Pier park, but the rain was coming down fast and hard, so we went with the backup of Custom House, just a couple of blocks away from the Ames. I actually really loved this spot; there is beautiful light in the covered space at the top of the steps, and it also meant I could get one of my favorite first look photos I’ve taken, with Elise and two of her bridesmaids helping her up the steps with an umbrella, and Chris waiting in the left of the frame.

The rain cleared up right after the first look, so we took the wedding party over to Fan Pier by trolley, with Champagne popped en route. We also managed to get some great photos under the Boston Harbor Hotel arch, and a few shots at Christopher Columbus Park, before heading back to Custom House for family photos.

The ceremony was held in the Great Room – my favorite spot for State Room wedding photos. It is such a magnificent setup, and the views over Boston Harbor were spectacular despite the weather! There was a really sweet and fun moment right after Elise and her father walked down the aisle (the black and white photo) and my favorite part of the ceremony was both moms giving their thoughts on Elise and Chris. It was really touching.

Cocktail hour was held upstairs while the State Room and AE Events did an amazing job flipping the room in record time. The decor was absolutely gorgeous – those flowers! Just stunning. Chris and Elise made the perfect entrance into dinner, descending those fantastic stairs and going straight into their choreographed first dance (it was really fun to photograph), and throughout dinner there were some lovely toasts by Chris’ brother, Elise’s best friend, Elise’s dad, and an impromptu toast by a member of Elise’s family welcoming Chris to officially join their golf group!

The party was fantastic – Wilson Stevens band Splash! always does such great job of getting everyone up dancing and having a grand time, and there was even some cowbell on the dance floor. And a selfie station – so fun! Thank you, Elise and Chris, for trusting me to document your incredible State Room Boston wedding. It was a delight working with you both, and your wonderful, welcoming families. I hope you enjoy these teasers!
