State Room Boston Jewish Wedding Photos: Ada + Jon

Apr 21, 2014 | Weddings

I absolutely adore State Room Boston weddings, and it was a treat getting to photograph my third wedding this season at this fabulous venue in downtown Boston.  Ada and Jon stayed at the beautiful and modern Ames Hotel just up the street from the State Room.  It’s by far my favorite hotel for State Room Boston weddings as it’s full of light, the backgrounds are clean and bright, and the suites there are huge!  I started my day with Ada and the ladies, who were all in high spirits.  The bridesmaids were wearing purple robes to match the wedding colors, a cute touch.  Ada was a joyous bundle of excitement!

The guys got ready in a smaller suite on a different level of the Ames, and I loved the bright white walls and clean lines of this smaller room.  The dads were there too, and the guys all helped each other with cufflinks, ties, and boutonnieres.

Once everyone was ready, we set up the first look in the restaurant at the Ames Hotel.  We had originally planned to head outside but it was blowing a gale out and I was concerned about Ada’s hair getting wrecked so early on by the wind!  The restaurant ended up being a great spot though, and Jon and Ada were happy to head outside for some couples portraits after, despite the wind.

Following portraits, the two families and wedding party headed up to the mezzanine level for the ketubah signing.  Rabbi David B. Kudan of Temple Tifereth Israel was absolutely fantastic and I highly recommend his services to all of my Jewish couples.  He’s sweet, incredibly easy to work with, has a great personality, and he adds a wonderfully personal touch to his ceremonies.  The main ceremony then took place downstairs in the Great Room, the pièce de résistance for State Room Boston wedding photos.  The Great Room is a huge room with a very clean and modern look, and amazing floor to ceiling windows with views of Boston Harbor.  I was lucky to have my good friend Leah Haydock second shooting for me (thanks Leah for the black and white close-up photo of Jon during the ceremony) so I was able to let her document the processional, while I set up for the photo of Ada entering the Great Room from the top of the stairs – one of my favorite photos I’ve taken at the State Room!

The reception decor was just stunning; the choice of purple was perfect for the space, adding warmth and depth, and the floral arrangements by Michele Bernard were gorgeous.  The reception opened with a fun and sweet first dance, then after dinner Jon and Ada went straight inbto the hora – one of my favorite parts of Jewish weddings.  Wilson Stevens’ band Splash! was superb as always, and kept the energy high all night long.  I hope you’ve enjoyed these favorite State Room Boston wedding photos – and if you’d like to see more, click on the link.  Thank you Ada and Jon for a wonderful day!
